August Wilson's 'Jitney' Now Playing at the Congo Square Theatre

January 16, 2018

Welcome to You Are Black Gold!

January 8, 2018

Welcome to You Are Black Gold!

You Are Black Gold is one Black millennial’s reflections on African American and African diasporic history, while simultaneously celebrating modern Black culture.

Topics I plan to explore include:

·      African American history and how it influences us today

·      international and domestic travel experiences as a person of color

·      the legacy of Black Chicago

·      cultural locations and events (museums, festivals, concerts, theatre, etc.)

·      books, music, films, and podcasts

…and why they matter now!

This blog is the one that I couldn’t find, so I decided to create it myself. My hope is that it will serve as a safe space to share my passion for the culture and connect with others with similar interests while learning and teaching along the way.

I'm elated to start this journey and bring you along for the ride!

Note: I’ll be using Black and African American interchangeably throughout the site.

“Know whence you came. If you know whence you came, there is really no limit to where you can go.”
